MAYOR INAUGURATES KOBRA MURAL AND PRESENTS NEW FEATURES AT INTERLAGOS FOR THE SÃO PAULO GP
The circuit received new fences, underwent works on the grandstands, and received asphalt maintenance.
The Mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, presented this Thursday (October 29) the new features of the Interlagos circuit, which will host the Formula 1 MSC Cruises São Paulo Grand Prix 2026 on November 6, 7, and 8, accompanied by the CEO of the São Paulo GP, Alan Adler.
The recent renovation reaches several sectors, from asphalt maintenance to the construction of new permanent grandstands, which are expected to expand the public capacity by 10,000 fans.
“What makes me the happiest is when we talk with the teams, the drivers, the organization staff, and they are always praising the circuit as one of the best circuits in the world,” stated the mayor, satisfied with the new features at Interlagos.
“Each year, the circuit has been a reference as a great international circuit for Formula 1, which is so demanding. It is a very high-quality circuit for our drivers, for the public to watch, so we can have the opportunity to hold a great international event in São Paulo.”
One of the new features is right at the entrance to the circuit: an imposing gate, which gives a new look to the facade and also greater visibility from the outside in. The gate is accompanied by a fence of the same style near Sector A.
“Interlagos has been going through an incredible transformation of modernization, but without losing its personality, without losing the tradition, the history of Interlagos,” said the CEO of the São Paulo GP, Alan Adler. “Today, the São Paulo GP is much bigger than a Formula 1 race. It is a motor of development, tourism, income, employment, and the promotion of the city of São Paulo to the world.”
The CEO highlighted the evolution of the event since he took over the GP management in 2021. In five years, there has been an incredible increase in public and economic movement in the city. While in 2021 the circuit received around 181,000 fans, this mark rose to more than 303,000 in 2025. The economic impact went from R$ 960 million five years ago to R$ 2.3 billion last year.
Alan Adler accompanied the mayor on a tour of the circuit’s new features. Starting with Sector A, which underwent a complete remodeling of the grandstands. Next, Ricardo Nunes was able to see the results of the works in Sectors D and OTC, which gained permanent grandstands. The renovation will provide greater comfort and ease of movement for fans around the circuit.
New Kobra mural The tour culminated in the launch of the incredible mural created by the São Paulo visual artist Eduardo Kobra. The work, named “Nós Somos São Paulo” (We Are São Paulo), is a giant panel that occupies a wall 225 meters long by 8.17 meters high, totaling 2,000 square meters of many colors and shapes.
The panel follows part of the infield track layout, from the uphill of the “Laranjinha” up to the “Esse”. And it pays tribute to the city and the paulistanos (people of São Paulo). Present there are historical and cultural icons of the city, as well as unknown faces, accompanied by the figure of Ayrton Senna.
“Everyone knows of my deep admiration for Ayrton Senna, not only for the three-time world champion, but mainly for the human being he was. I have already had the privilege of honoring him in other murals around the world and right here at Interlagos. But, this time, I wanted to portray not just the idol, but Ayrton Senna da Silva, the citizen, the human being behind the helmet. A paulistano, like so many others who, with their work, their stories, their struggles, help build this city every day. That is how the mural ‘We are the city of São Paulo’ was born,” stated Kobra, who was accompanied by Leonardo Senna, Ayrton’s brother, at the mural’s launch.
Ana Castela The performance of the National Anthem before the start of the São Paulo GP will have a sertanejo tone this year. The honor of leading the ceremony will belong to the young Ana Castela, the main star of the new generation of sertanejo music in Brazil. Approaching her 23rd birthday on November 16, the singer has been shining on music platforms in the country by uniting elements of sertanejo, country music, and contemporary sounds. Currently, she accumulates 12.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. This year alone, there are already around 700 million streams on her main releases.
