HISTORIC CARS, V12 ENGINES, AND BARRICHELLO THRILL THE F1 SÃO PAULO GP
Special schedule at Interlagos features a parade of classic models, the power of super sports cars in an acoustic show, and a tribute to the Brazilian driver.
It is not only the current cars of motorsport’s premier category that take over the Interlagos asphalt during the weekend of the F1 São Paulo GP, which takes place on November 6, 7, and 8. Historic models from the 1920s to the 1990s, super sports cars equipped with powerful V12, V10, and V8 engines, the Williams FW33 driven by Rubens Barrichello, and mini hot rods driven by celebrities complete the schedule, bringing nostalgia, emotion, and entertainment to the circuit’s grandstands.
The activities begin on Friday, the 6th, at 11:30 AM, with the Historic Cars Parade. The highlight is the 1967 Willys Mark I. With a four-cylinder Renault engine, it achieved a one-two finish at the Mil Milhas (Thousand Miles) that year with Luiz Pereira Bueno/Luiz Fernando Terra Smith and Bird Clemente/Marivaldo Fernandes.
“More than exhibiting old cars, the idea is to bring part of the memory that helped transform Interlagos into a temple of Brazilian motorsport. These cars represent the era in which our motorsport was being formed, from the first sports cars and competition cars to models that participated in races and endurance events,” says Humberto Abonante Júnior, organizer of the action.
On Saturday, the 7th, the Celebrity Lap is scheduled, which will put personalities behind the wheel of iconic mini hot rods for moments of relaxation and a lot of entertainment for the public, starting at 2:10 PM.
On Sunday, the 8th, the Interlagos track hosts The Power of Sound. Starting at 10:20 AM, ten super sports cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Audi parade to enchant with the roar of naturally aspirated V12, V10, and V8 engines in an acoustic show that rescues the fans’ affective memory.
“The models were chosen for their acoustic delivery capacity. We made a list of super sports models with a sports exhaust system that resembles the Formula 1 roars from 1990 to 2013. Our idea is to fill Interlagos with the sound of these cars and provide an acoustic and nostalgic sensory experience to the public,” states Fábio Castellotti, responsible for the action.
Shortly after, at 11:30 AM, Barrichello reunites with Interlagos 15 years after his farewell to F1 and the São Paulo circuit. The driver, who competed in 326 races, achieved 11 victories, and 68 podiums in 19 years in the category, will drive the FW33, the Williams model used by him in the 2011 season.
“I am very happy because this farewell is something I have wanted for a long time. When I left Interlagos in 2011, everything was set to race in 2012, but that didn’t happen. So I, as a boy who grew up next to the circuit, was left with the feeling that I hadn’t said goodbye the way I wanted to. It will be a wonderful reunion with the F1 public, who followed me for 19 years,” says Barrichello.
The Formula 1 MSC Cruises São Paulo Grand Prix 2026 takes place on November 6, 7, and 8 at the Interlagos circuit. All tickets to watch the race at the circuit are sold out. There are still tickets remaining for the F1 Fanzone of the São Paulo GP. More information about the F1 Fanzone of the São Paulo GP is available at f1saopaulo.com.br/fanzone.
