Before the break, F1 teams test updates in Hungary.

The Hungarian GP, next weekend, the 11th round of the 2026 F1 World Championship, is the last race before the mandatory August break. A twisty, tricky circuit, it is a good option for some tests that may or may not be used in the final stretch. Gabriel Bortoleto chases after more points. The Hungaroring round will be held this Sunday (07/26), starting at 10 am (Brasília time), with live broadcasting by TV Globo, Sportv 3, Globoplay, and BandNews FM. On Saturday, qualifying starts at 11 am (Sportv 3 and Globoplay).

The ‘macarena wing’ that has been used by Ferrari with good results will be on Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s McLaren cars for the first time. Basically, this feature introduced in the 2026 regulations rotates the main plane, reducing drag and allowing for higher speed on the straight. Red Bull, on the other hand, has suspended the use of the device for now following Max Verstappen’s crash in Austria.

In McLaren’s case, the ‘macarena’ is part of the upgrade package that will be tested in Hungary.

There is great anticipation for the launch of the 2.0 version of the Aston Martin team’s AMR26. Designer Adrian Newey is confident that, starting in Hungary, the cars’ performance will change radically. So far, after 10 races, Aston Martin has scored only 1 point and is only ahead of Cadillac, which has yet to score. But there is a problem: the team still doesn’t know if they will have all the necessary parts at the circuit, starting on Friday.

Test drivers will take the wheel in Friday’s free practice. Italian Leonardo Fornaroli (who is competing with Rafael Câmara for a possible seat at Haas in 2027) will step in for Oscar Piastri; Japanese driver Ryo Hirakawa will replace Ollie Bearman at Haas, while Estonian Paul Aron will take over Franco Colapinto’s cockpit at Alpine.

The narrow layout of the Hungaroring with its 14 corners demands high aerodynamic downforce – the exact opposite of the characteristics of Spa, where the drivers raced last weekend. The GP is a good chance for Lewis Hamilton to reduce the 45-point gap that separates him from the leader Kimi Antonelli. Hamilton dominates the Hungarian race like no one else: he has 8 victories. From the current grid, the closest is Max Verstappen, who has won twice.

Gabriel Bortoleto likes the track and, after qualifying 8th in Silverstone and Spa, is confident about finishing in the top 10 once again, explaining that it would be important for Audi to increase their points tally before the break.

The Hungarian GP schedule includes F2 and F3 races. After Hungary, F1 will only return to the tracks on August 23rd, in Zandvoort, with the Dutch GP.
