FROM WAVES TO THE ASPHALT: GABRIEL MEDINA TO WAVE THE CHECKERED FLAG AT THE SÃO PAULO GP
São Paulo, November 2024 – The São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix continues its tradition of inviting major Brazilian names to wave the checkered flag at the end of Sunday’s race. In 2024, it will be no different. After the 71 laps are completed, the person signaling the winner will also be someone well accustomed to the top step of the podium: Gabriel Medina.
The athlete, a three-time surfing world champion and Olympic medalist at Paris 2024, is a declared Formula 1 fan and has attended previous editions of the São Paulo GP as well as other races on the calendar around the world.
“Being invited to wave the flag is an honor, and doing it on a weekend full of tributes to Senna, my idol, makes this moment even more special. Let’s hope for an exciting and closely fought race,” said Medina.
The Formula 1 Lenovo São Paulo Grand Prix 2024 takes place this Sunday, November 3, following the schedule on Friday (Nov 1) and Saturday (Nov 2).
